Connecting Commercial Service
You can apply for service by either
  • Applying Online
  • Calling LCEC's Call Center at (239) 656-2300, (800) 599-2356,
    Monday through Friday 7 am - 6:30 pm
Information needed to connect commercial service:
  1. Name that account will be listed under. If account will be listed under a Corporation's name, a copy of the Articles of Incorporation should be provided
    If the account is a partnership, the account must be listed in the responsible party's name
  2. If account is listed under an individual's name, a Social Security should be provided if available.
  3. Mailing address
  4. Phone Number
  5. Date service is to be connected
  6. If the meter to the existing service is off, a county inspection and/or fire inspection may be needed before the meter is connected.
  7. Service location address, if new service, lot, block, strap and permit number (if available)
Deposit Amount Required
The following calculation will be used to determine the amount of the commercial deposit:
  1. If the location is NEW CONSTRUCTION and has never had electrical service, multiply the total square footage (under air conditioning) by $.40. If that amount is greater than $200, it will be used as the deposit amount. If that amount is less than $200, the deposit amount will default to $200.
  2. If the location has 12-months of billing history, determine the average monthly billing and multiply by 2. If that amount is greater than $200, it will be used as the deposit amount. If that amount is less than $200, the deposit amount will default to $200.
  3. If the location is NOT brand new but does NOT have 12 months of billing history, the deposit amount will default to $200.
Builder Deposits
New builders will automatically be assessed an initial deposit amount of $1,000 for 1-10 properties and $100 for each additional property over 10.

Existing builders who are current in their payments by January 1, 2008 will not be required to pay an initial deposit.

Existing builders who are not current by January 1, 2008 will be charged an additional or initial deposit. The deposit amount is $1,000 for a builder with 1-10 properties and $100 for each additional property.

Additional or New Deposit
An additional or new deposit may be applied to an existing electric account at the point any consumer has established a record of delinquent payments.

Waiving a deposit
Surety Bond: click here for printable copy The customer obtains a Surety Bond form from LCEC and has their insurance agent complete the form. Upon completion, the form is sent to LCEC.

Additional Charges
There may be additional charges billed from LCEC's Engineering Department, e.g. CIAC (Contribution in Aid of Construction), Underground charges, etc.
