LCEC employees receive statewide recognition for professional achievements
Thursday, September 17, 2009 - North Fort Myers, Fla.

LCEC Public Relations Manager Karen Ryan, APR has earned a new credential: CPRC, which stands for Certified Public Relations Counselor Public Relations. LCEC Public Relations Coordinator Kathleen Taylor has earned her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR).

Official recognition was given to Ryan and Taylor at the Annual Conference of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA), held in Boca Raton, FL in August. Both Ryan and Taylor brought home official certificates and lapel pins in honor of their professional achievements over the past year.

CPRC represents the ultimate level of professionalism within the Florida Public Relations Association. The certification process was developed to recognize professional growth and achievement of senior members who have already earned the APR designation. Candidates for CPRC must be a member of the Florida Public Relations Association and have a minimum of 10 years of professional practice in public relations.

APR credentials are issued internationally by the Universal Accreditation Board, the leading certification body for the public relations profession. To pursue the APR credential and sit for the written exam, professionals must present samples of their work and be advanced through the process by a panel of accredited peers. Earning the APR credential requires a solid grasp of key skills and abilities including media relations, communications theory, ethics, law, and research, planning, implementation and evaluation of public relations programs.
