North Fort Myers, FL, July 30, 2024 – LCEC members will receive a Power Cost Adjustment (PCA) credit on their bill in the month of August, marking this as the sixth consecutive month members have seen a PCA credit in place of a charge. In January and February of 2024, the PCA was set to zero, resulting in no charge on members' bills.
The Power Cost Adjustment reflects the difference between the actual cost of purchased power from the LCEC power supplier and the cost of power included in the energy charge. Power cost adjustments fluctuate each month, as the cost to generate power rises and falls. Power suppliers adjust based on variable fuel costs related to power production and the costs, or savings, are passed on to members.
There are no margins (profit) earned on the power cost portion of the customer bill. It is solely a pass-through to the power supplier. Power cost adjustments happen regularly throughout the energy industry.
