Property Damage Claim
Understanding LCEC Claim Guidelines
While LCEC strives to deliver reliable electric service, interruptions may occur due to factors beyond our control. LCEC is not responsible for damages arising from:
- Acts of nature, such as hurricanes, lightning, storms, or floods.
- Third-party actions, such as vehicle accidents affecting utility infrastructure.
- Interruptions of service required to prevent damage to the electric system, such as a scheduled outage for upgrades or repairs.
- Operational conditions or fluctuations in the supply of energy that could have been prevented by suitable protective devices on customer-owned equipment.
- Customer-owned equipment lacking appropriate protective devices to prevent operational or energy supply issues.
Delivery Point and Customer Responsibilities
The “delivery point” is where LCEC’s facilities connect to the customer’s. LCEC is not liable for damages, losses, or injuries occurring beyond this point, including those related to customer-owned equipment. Customers are encouraged to install and maintain protective devices to safeguard against fluctuations or interruptions.
Important Information
LCEC is unable to guarantee compensation or reimbursement for claims until a thorough review is completed, and liability is determined. LCEC is also not responsible for food loss or consequential damages resulting from acts of nature.
Fraud Warning
Any person who knowingly and with intent to injure, defraud, or deceive an insurance company files a statement of claim containing false, incomplete, or misleading information is guilty of a felony of the third degree.
